Özet
The Friends of Turkish Literature Association started its activities in Berlin in 1916, after which it made attempts to branch out in Turkey in line with its aims and was accepted as a result, examining Turkish literature and language, Turkish literature taking the place it deserves in world literature, it was aimed to establish a library of Oriental works in Istanbul that could be made available to German scientists, to facilitate the personal communication of German orientalists and Turkish scientists, to conduct scientific studies in cooperation, and to obtain political and financial support from the two states, if it necessary. The Istanbul branch of the society continued its activities in Turkey until the loss of the First World War. In this study, the aims of the German scientific circles related to similar societies before the establishment of the Friends of Turkish Literature Association, whose branch was opened in Istanbul, the establishment process of the said society in Berlin, the purpose of its establishment, its contributions to the Turkish-German scientific life, its cooperation with the Hungarian Science Institute in Istanbul, German and Turkish archival sources as well as other foreign, Hungarian and Turkish sources have been used to produce works. © 2023, Osman Kose.
