Immigration was encouraged here. Weaving craftsmen from various regions were brought. One of the important governor of this time was Kharlıg (Harlıg). Kharlıg-originally an Uyghur Turk was commissioned in Herat in 1239 and continued his duty till 1259. In his time, social and agricultural activities were increased. New businesses were opened and agriculture got improved. Old irrigation channels were repaired, and new ones were built. The city enlarged in this period. Kharlıg was dismissed when he grew old by the Mongols and the administration of the city was given to Malik Şams-al-din Kart. © 2018, Ahmet Yesevi University. All rights reserved.
