Özet
The concentrations of eight heavy metals (Fe, Ni, Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Cr and Mn) have been measured in commercial species, Psetta maxima, Pomatomus saltator, Trachurus trachurus, Alosa fallax nilotica, Mullus barbatus, Solea solea, Merlangius merlangus euxinus and Engraulis encrasicolus collected from Sinop coasts of the Black Sea during September 2014 to December 2014. The concentration of heavy metals was in order of Zn > Fe > Cu > Mn > Cr > Ni > Pb > Cd. Results showed that the concentration varied from 2.41 (M. barbatus) to 22.10 (T. trachurus) mg/kg wet wt. for Zn; from 2.20 (A. f nilotica) to 11.30 (P. maxima) mg/kg wet wt. for Fe; from 0.44 (A. f nilotica) to 3.20 (P. saltator) mg/kg wet wt. for Cu; from 0.12 (M. barbatus) to 0.84 (P. saltator) mg/kg wet wt. for Mn; from 0.19 (A. f nilotica) to 0.68 (S. solea) mg/kg wet wt. for Cr and from 0.16 (S. solea) to 0.52 (P. saltator) mg/kg wet wt. for Ni. The levels of Pb and Cd in P. saltator, T. trachurus, A. f nilotica, M. m. euxinus and E. encrasicolus were below the limit of detections (0.05 and 0.02 mg/kg, respectively). However, the highest Cd (0.032 mg/kg wet wt.) and Pb (0.11 value mg/kg wet wt.) values were found in the edible tissues of S. solea and M. barbatus, respectively. These concentrations are lower than the maximum permissible values in European and Turkish regulation. The average weekly intakes of Pb and Cd per body weight values not exceeded the Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake (PTWI) established. Therefore, it may be concluded that these metals should not pose any health threat to the consumers resulting from the consumption of studied fish species.
