Background: Ethical values are vital in the scientific research process as well as in every field of life. In the studies conducted, it is stated that ethical violations have increased. Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine the views of nursing doctoral students on research ethics. Methods: The data of the descriptive study were collected from 57 students enrolled in the nursing doctorate program at two different universities. The Personal Information Form and the Research Ethics Questionnaire were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square test. Results: 98.2% of the participants were women, 47.4% were in the age range 25-29, 70.2% were academicians and 54.4% were in the pre-qualification period. To present the same research in more than one meeting (29.8%), force people to participate (47.4%) and biased to report the findings (64.9%) had the highest percentage. According to the analysis made between clinicians and academicians, in thinking the behavior is ethical, do the behavior and see the behavior is done by colleagues’ fields, the clinician doctoral students' rates are higher than the academic doctoral students and the difference is statistically significant (p < .05). Conclusion: The most important issue in the study is that unethical behaviors are observed too much. Particularly, clinician students have high rates in all areas. In nursing graduate programs, it is recommended to increase the number of courses related to research ethics and to make curriculum arrangements that will provide students gain research experience. © 2019, Dokuz Eylul University.
