Özet

Plodia interpunctella (Hubner) dried fruit moth was used in this study. The influence of photoperiod, light starting time and type of food on P. interpunctella's fecundity and longevity was researched. The experiments were conducted under laboratory conditions of 26 +/- 1 degrees C and 60 +/- 5% relative humidity, and corn flour and bran were used as food. 8 photoperiods were studied as CL (continuous light), CD (continuous dark), 18L:6D (18 hours light, 6 hours dark) 1st phase and 2nd Phase, 12L:12D (12 hours light, 12 hours dark) 1st Phase and 2nd Phase, 6L:18D (6 hours light, 18 hours dark) 1st Phase and 2nd Phase. Light starting times were changed for 18L:6D, 6L:18D, 12L:12D conditions and 2nd Phase regimens were formed. Adult longevity was found for each experiment according to fecundity and sexes. The type of food which had the highest fecundity was corn flour for all photoperiod conditions. In addition, it was found that fecundity decreased in all photoperiod conditions as the time of dark increased. Adult longevity was found to be higher under photoperiod conditions with more light, but in both types of food, no significant difference was found in longevity with different photoperiod. In general, increase was found in fecundity and longevity in 1st Phase experiments in which light started in the morning in the same photoperiod. Our results showed that changing the light starting time in the same photoperiod and type of food was important for P. interpunctella's fecundity. Faster development and higher fecundity was found in all photoperiods in this study with corn flour. In long photoperiods, increases were found in fecundity and longevity with both foods; however, this increase was found to be more significant in fecundity.
