dc.description.abstractThe education of Turkish in primary school institutions carries great importance. The examples that are given to teach the subjects better and easier is as important as education. In this study, on what level the texts that coursebook authors chose from the novels of Turkish and world’s literature contribute to the education of Turkish course subjects which are taught in primary and secondary was discussed with various aspects. The aim of this study is to determine which novels that were chosen from the Turkish and world’s literature were included how they are taught in the Turkish course books that were put into practice in the academic year of 2019-2020 by being prepared in accordance with the Turkish curricula of primary education (primary and secondary schools) which were updated in 2018 and to make assessments accordingly. Survey model was used in the study and the data of the study was collected with document review method. According to the obtained results, it was observed that the education of novel genre has an importance in Turkish Curriculum and texts from the novels are included in Turkish course books that are prepared in accordance with this Curriculum, however, sufficient knowledge is not given to students about novels. Additionally, it was determined that authors are flexible in terms of including texts from novels and do not follow a systematic path in teaching novel genre. © 2019, Milli Egitim All Rights Reserved.
