In general, the number of parts in a unit of a whole consisting of parts is called resolution. Digital screen images differ from images printed by the printing method because instead of DPI, the pixel dimensions and frequency of monitors, televisions, projectors, or other screens are considered. While the units used for the resolution of printed images are LPI ( Line per Inch ) or DPI ( Dot per Inch ), the unit that determines the resolution of the screen image is PPI ( Pixels per Inch ).In digital imaging, resolution is usually measured as the number of pixels. The higher the number of pixels per inch (PPI), the clearer and higher quality the image. A pixel is a single dot or small square in a graphic image stored in an ordered rectangular grid.Image resolution is usually expressed as a horizontal x vertical y dimension. So an image resolution of 6000 x 4000 means that the image is 6000 pixels wide and 4000 pixels high. Multiplying the two numbers together gives the second common specification, megapixels. 6000 x 4000 corresponds to 24,000,000 pixels, which are usually given as 24 megapixels (MP).Screen resolution is not to be confused with image resolution. The screen resolution indicates how many pixels there are on the entire screen. For example, a 15-inch monitor with 640x480 pixels displays about 50 dots per inch.Print resolution is the most important parameter that determines print quality. After all, what exactly is print resolution and how important is it really when choosing a printer, imager or digital printer? The resolution of images printed by a printing process is a measure of how many dots fit on an inch. The higher the number of dots per inch (DPI), the higher the resolution of the image. The number of dots per inch that can be printed is the quality parameter for the printed image.
