EXAMINING PROOFS IN ABSTRACT MATHEMATICS BOOKS IN THE CONTEXT OF BALACHEFF’S TAXONOMY

dc.description.abstractMathematic has more abstract structure because it isn’t based on experiments and observations unlike other sciences. The thing that has provided to be a scientific discipline is proofs. The purpose of this study is to determine the status of proof of abstract mathematics textbooks used in the course. For this purpose, actively used in universities 5 abstract mathematics textbooks including 4 domestic books and 1 foreign book were examined in the context of the proof Balacheff taxonomy. Based on the results of qualitative content analysis they were determined that more intellectual kind of proof is used in books, proof type used varies according to the subject, sets is the issue proven most intense and when the publication year progresses, the number of proof left to students increases. The most interesting result is the statements given by the theorem or proposition in some books is shown as examples in some books. This situation could not find a relationship with the year of publication for books.
dc.description.abstractMatematik diger bilimlerin aksine deney ve gözlemlere dayanmadigi için daha soyut bir yapiya sahiptir. Bilimsel bir disiplin olmasini saglayan sey ise ispatlardir. Bu çalismanin amaci soyut matematik dersi kapsaminda kullanilan ders kitaplarinin ispat durumlarini belirlemektir. Bu amaç dogrultusunda üniversitelerde aktif olarak kullanilan 4’ü yerli 1’i yabanci olmak üzere 5 adet soyut matematik ders kitabi Balacheff’in ispat taksonomisi baglaminda incelenmistir. Yapilan nitel içerik çözümlemesi sonucunda kitaplarda daha çok entelektüel ispat türünün kullanildigi, kullanilan ispat türünün konulara göre farklilastigi, en yogun ispat yapilan konunun kümeler konusu oldugu ve yayin yili ilerledikçe ögrencilere birakilan ispat sayisinin arttigi belirlenmistir. En ilginç sonuç ise bazi kitaplarda teorem ya da önerme olarak verilen ifadelerin bazi kitaplarda örnek olarak gösterilmis olmasidir. Bu durumun kitaplarin yayin yiliyla bir iliskisi bulunamamistir.
