dc.description.abstractIn this research, it is aimed to examine the views of the primary school teacher candidates the perimeter and areas of parallelogram and rectangle according to the components of reasoning with relationship and generalization from the geometric habits of the mind which is a kind of geometric thinking. Qualitative research method was used in the study. The easily accessible sampling was preferred in determining the study group. The participants of the study consisted of 63 teacher candidates attending the first year of primary education program of a public university in the Black Sea Region. In this study, a measuring tool which were prepared for this study, consisting of three open-ended problems related to the perimeter and area calculation of the rectangle and parallelogram was used for the reasoning with relationships and generalization of geometric ideas from the geometric thinking habits of the mind. Descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data. The finding were compared and interpreted. As a result of the study, it was seen that the teachers candidates habits of reasoning with relationships and generalization of geometric ideas were low and they could not demonstrate multiple ways of thinking. The teacher candidates evaluated geometric shapes only in the context of the prototype in which they were given. There are many possible reasons for these results. It can be considered as a necessity to compare the students with the questions that can be used in the geometric thinking habits of the mind which have reasoning with relationships and generalization of geometric ideas.
dc.description.abstractArastirmada sinif ögretmeni adaylarinin paralelkenar ile dikdörtgenin çevreleri ile alanlarini bulmaya iliskin görüslerinin bir tür geometrik düsünme olan zihnin geometrik aliskanliklarindan iliskilendirme ve genelleme bilesenlerine göre incelenmesi amaçlanmistir. Çalismada nitel arastirma yöntemi kullanilmistir. Çalisma grubunun belirlenmesinde kolay ulasilabilir örnekleme tercih edilmistir. Çalismanin katilimcilarini Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinin sinif egitimi birinci sinifina devam eden 63 ögretmen adayi olusturmaktadir. Çalismada veri toplama araci olarak bu çalisma için hazirlanan, zihnin geometrik düsünme aliskanliklarindan iliskilerle muhakeme etme ve geometrik fikirlerin genellestirilmesi aliskanliklarini kullanmaya yönelik paralelkenar ile dikdörtgenin çevre ve alan hesabi ile ilgili üç tane açik uçlu problemin yer aldigi bir ölçme araci kullanilmistir. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analizden yararlanilmistir. Elde edilen bulgular karsilastirilarak yorumlanmistir. Çalismanin sonucunda ögretmen adaylarinin iliskilendirme ve genelleme aliskanliklarinin düsük seviyede oldugu, çoklu düsünme yollarini sergileyemedikleri görülmüstür. Ögretmen adaylari geometrik sekilleri yalnizca verildigi prototip baglaminda degerlendirmislerdir. Ulasilan bu sonuçlarin çok çesitli nedenlerinin bulunma olasiligi olsa da, zihnin geometrik düsünme aliskanliklarinin kullanilabilecegi, akil yürütme ve muhakeme durumlarina basvurulabilecegi sorular ile ögrencilerin karsilastirilmalari bir gereklilik olarak düsünülebilir.
