Electrofuels (e-fuels) are produced by combining recycled CO2 with hydrogen obtained from water electrolysis through renewable energy. There are various production methods for e-fuels, which are expected to be an important milestone on the path to decarbonization. This book chapter presents the importance of e-fuels, production methods, advantages and disadvantages, techno-economic visualization, and current status. Therewithal, some suggestions are given on how to increase the production of e-fuels while reducing their costs. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
