dc.description.abstractFrom the primeval era the earth element, which is one of the four elements admitted as the principle of creatures has intervened humankind to understand the world. The earth, which is the subject of philosophy, mythology, history of religions, chemistry, physics, psychology and cosmology, is important for artistic expression in terms of various symbolic meaning. Earth, with mother goddess idols, represents the fertility, plenty fullness and conservation. The earth being the inseparable part of the universe during the formation phase in philosophy or the belief that living creatures came from earth and go back to it, has effected context of artworks. In the research, the earth will be discussed from the point where the whole meaning layers came together, in terms of contribution to lifecircle. The aim of the study is how the physical transformation and change of earth has effected the universe’s being and how lifecircle has effected philosophy, mythology and artworks. The works which are determined by earth element symbolically from the late Gothic to after modernism, will be analysed by qualitative research method.
dc.description.abstractIlk Çaglardan bugüne, varliklarin ilkesi kabul edilmis dört unsurdan biri olan toprak, insanligin dünyayi anlamlandirmasina aracilik etmistir. Felsefe, mitoloji, dinler tarihi, kimya, fizik, psikoloji ve kozmoloji alanlarinda arastirmalarin konusu olan toprak unsuru, sanatsal ifadede de sembolik anlam çesitliligiyle önem tasimaktadir. Toprak unsuru, mitoloji ve sanatta ana tanriça idolleriyle, dogurganligin, bereketin ve koruyuculugun temsili olmustur. Topragin felsefede evrenin olusum asamasinin ayrilmaz bir parçasi olmasi ya da tüm evrenin ve canlilarin topraktan gelip topraga gidecegi inanci sanat eserlerinin içerigini de etkilemistir. Arastirmada toprak unsuru, tüm anlam katmanlarinin birlestigi noktadan ve yasam döngüsüne katkisi açisindan ele alinacaktir. Topraktaki fiziksel dönüsüm ve degismenin, evrenin olus halinin ve bu yasam döngüsünün felsefe, mitoloji ve sanat eserlerini nasil etkiledigi arastirmanin amacini olusturmaktadir. Bu çalismada sanatta geç Gotik dönemden modernizm sonrasina kadar topragin sembol olarak belirleyici olugu çalismalar, nitel arastirma yöntemiyle incelenecektir.
