dc.description.abstractThis study was planned to evaluate the fisheries structure, economic value and consumption of the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) living in the Asi River. For this purpose, the study was carried out in 3 stages between December 2018 and March 2019. In the first stage, face-to-face interviews were conducted with the local fishermen to reveal the fishing gear and main fishing regions of catfish. In the second stage, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 12 business owners engaged in the retail sale of fisheries products in order to analyze the economic value of African catfish in the region. In the third and final stage, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 180 consumers to evaluate the catfish consumption habits of locals in the region. According to the data obtained, the hunting areas where intensive African catfish fishing have been carried out in the Asi River was determined, and the technical drawings of the most intensively used fishing gear were presented. It has been calculated that the average retail price of African catfish is 14.25 TRY (for December 2018-March 2019). It was understood that the more than half of the locals consume catfish once a week, and all of the subjects consume at least once a month. As a result, due to the wide catching area, high economic value and intense consumption in the region, intensive or extensive aquaculture will relieve the natural stocks.
dc.description.abstractBu çalisma, Asi Nehri'nde yasayan karabalik (Clarias gariepinus)’in balikçilik yapisi, ekonomik degeri ve tüketiminin degerlendirilmesi amaçli gerçeklestirilmistir. Çalisma Aralik 2018-Mart 2019 tarihleri arasinda 3 asamada gerçeklestirilmistir. Ilk asamada, Karabalik avciliginda kullanilan av araçlari ve avlak sahalarini ortaya çikarmak için bölgedeki balikçilarla yüz yüze görüsmeler yapilmistir. Ikinci asamada, Karabalik’in bölgedeki ekonomik degerini analiz etmek için su ürünleri perakende satisi yapan 12 isletme sahibi ile yüz yüze görüsmeler gerçeklestirilmistir. Üçüncü ve son asamada ise baligin Antakya halkinin tüketim aliskanliklarini degerlendirmek için 180 tüketici ile yüz yüze görüsmeler gerçeklestirilmistir. Elde edilen verilere göre, Asi Nehri'nde Karabalik avciliginin en yogun yapildigi avlak sahalari belirlenmis olup, bölgede en yogun kullanilan av araçlarinin teknik çizimleri sunulmustur. Karabalik perakende fiyati ortalama 14,25 TL (Aralik 2018-Mart 2019 için) oldugu hesaplanmistir. Bununla birlikte Antakya halkinin yarisindan fazlasinin haftada en az bir kere Karabalik tükettigi ve deneklerin tamaminin ayda en az bir sefer tükettigi anlasilmistir. Sonuç olarak, Karabaligin bölgedeki genis avlak sahasi, yüksek ekonomik degeri ve yogun tüketim aliskanliklari sebebiyle bu bölgede entansif ya da ekstansif yetistiriciliginin yapilmasinin dogal stoklari rahatlatacagi düsünülmektedir.
