| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of different demographic characteristics of 7th grade primary school students on their motivation levels towards science learning and its sub-dimensions which are doing research, performance, communication, cooperative working and participation. In the study, 280 students attending primary schools in the central district of Konya province were administered a 23-item “Motivation towards Science Learning Scale”. In the data analysis, in order to determine the difference between students’ motivation towards science and technology course and their personal characteristics, t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used. As for the investigation of the relationship between students’ motivation towards science and technology course and their academic achievement, correlation analysis was carried out. According to the results of the analysis, motivation levels of students participating in the study towards learning science were determined to be at medium level. A significant difference was observed in favor of female students in terms of gender, father’s education level, monthly income and having a private study room or not, but there was no significant difference with regard to mother’s education level. Also, it was concluded that there was a weak but positive relationship between students’ motivation towards learning science and their academic achievement. | |
