Özet
The objective of this chapter is to examine different concepts regarding sustainability in curriculum designs based on practical case studies. The analysis examines sustainability programs that successfully integrate economic, social, and environmental factors, but also social justice, economic inclusion, responsible consumerism, and production methods into educational settings. Therefore, a qualitative study method was employed as part of the investigation. The chapter presents a documentation analysis of studies on sustainability curriculum design, sustainable education, sustainability-oriented courses, sustainable faculties, sustainable campus practices and projects, and, through content analysis, the platforms Scopus and Web of Science were selected as the main sources of scientific articles. The research data was developed using the MAXQDA program. The websites of universities and their curricula and scopes were examined in detail. The value of this chapter lies in the originality of the research design of the case study. As a result, a comparison of different case studies shows that incorporating sustainability into curriculum design allows students to learn across disciplines, develops their critical thinking abilities, and gives them the tools they need to tackle global sustainability issues. A number of universities have been examined to show that those with organized sustainability programs successfully integrate economic, social, and environmental factors, resulting in a more comprehensive approach to education. © The Editors and Contributors Severally 2025.
