dc.description.abstract | After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Ukraine has become a geopolitical and geostrategic battleground for NATO and the EU. The expansion policy aimed at encircling Russia and integrating Ukraine, the third-largest landowner among the former Soviet states, into the Western world ultimately culminated in the Russia-Ukraine War.Following the election on November 21, 2004, Ukraine became divided into pro-Western and pro-Russian factions. Despite allegations of election fraud and subsequent protests, pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovych became the President. His prolonged tenure was marked by continuous protests and significant conflicts. Indeed, the clashes between protesters and security forces during the demonstrations from November 24 to 28, 2013, resembled an internal conflict akin to civil war. On January 20, 2014, the pro-Russian Crimean Parliament declared that Crimea would become independent if pro-EU forces came to power, asserting that Crimea would never be handed back to Ukraine. This declaration escalated the issue to the Crimean peninsula, ultimately leading to Russia's annexation of Crimea.A decade has passed since Russia’s occupation of Crimea. The impact of the annexation continues to linger in the memories of Crimean Tatars living in Turkey. This article presents an evaluation of the perceptions of the homeland among Crimean Tatars through statements regarding their organic connections with the Crimean region and their attitudes towards the occupation, based on a twenty-question survey conducted after the ten-year period.
Bu gelismelerle baslayan süreç Rusya’nin Kirim’i isgaliyle sonuçlanmistir. Bugün, Rusya’nin Kirim’i isgalinin üzerinden on yil geçmistir.
