Özet
This article examines the etymology of -GILA-/-KILA- suffix that has a certain frequency in use in the modem Turkic dialects, the identifications of the allamorphs and phonomorphems emerging from sound interactions that occur on the suffix and the semantic features added to the verb base by the suffix -GILA-/-KILA.. -GILA-/-KILA- is a frequantative verb derivational suffix and adds different shades of meaning to the verb. Although the ways the base of the verb allows or rejects the suffix considerably changes among the dialects, the use of the suffix -GILA-/-K1LA- is found in many of the Turkic dilaects. Based on the examples of verbs selected from different Turkic dialects, this study aims to distinguish this suffix from the other suffixes with similar morphological features and functions.
