5E Öğrenme Modeline Dayalı Etkinliklerin Öğrencilerin Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri ve Akademik Başarılarına Etkisi

Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, 6.sınıf ışık ve ses ünitesinde 5E öğrenme modeline dayalı etkinliklerin öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerileri ve akademik başarıları üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek ve bu etkinliklerin derste kullanımına yönelik öğrenci görüşlerini tespit etmektir. Bu amaca hizmet etmesi açısından 5E öğrenme modeline dayalı olarak rehber etkinlik seti geliştirilmiş ve setin süreçte etkililiği değerlendirilmiştir. 2011-2012 eğitim-öğretim yılında Sinop ili merkez ilçesinde bir ilköğretim okulunda altıncı sınıfa devam eden 25 deney ve 17 kontrol grubunda olmak üzere toplam 42 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmada karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel bölümünde, öntest-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın deney grubu öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirilen nitel bölümünde ise durum çalışması (case study) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma süresince elde edilen nicel verilerin analizleri SPSS 15.0 istatistik paket programı ile; nitel verilerin analizi ise içerik analizi ve sürekli karşılaştırılmalı veri analizi yöntemleri birlikte kullanılarak NVivo 8.0 Nitel Veri Analizi Programı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada 5E öğrenme modeline uygun hazırlanan rehber etkinlikleri ile desteklenen dersin, öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerileri ve akademik başarıları üzerinde anlamlı ve olumlu etkisi olmuştur.
The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect of 5E learning model-based activities used in the instruction of 6th grade light and sound unit in science and technology course on students' scientific process skills and academic achievement and to elicit students' opinions about the use of these activities in the course. For this purpose, a guiding activity set was developed based on 5E learning model and the effectiveness of the set during the process was evaluated. This study was carried out with the participation of 25 experimental group and 17 control group students who receive education in the 6th grade of a primary school in a central district in Sinop province during the 2011-2012 academic year and a mixed-methods design was used. In the qualitative part which was carried out with the experimental group students, case study was employed. The quantitative data collected throughout the study were analyzed by using SPSS 15.0 Statistical Package while the qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis and continuous comparative data analysis used together with the help of NVivo 8.0 Qualitative Data Analysis Program. The implementation of the activities that were prepared according to 5E learning model to the experimental group students improved the students' science process skills and academic success at a higher level when compared to the control group.
