Totally, the trawl hauling operations were successfully performed in 30 stations. The works were done according to the MEDITS protocol: sampling was done at 3 different depths (0-20 m, 20-50 m and 50-100 m), marine litter was classified in 9 categories. At all sampling stations marine litter was assessed by weight and amount. The most common marine litter group was L2 tire/rubber by weight (53%) and amount (67%) when L1 plastic group - 25% by weight and L5 fabric and natural fibres - 12% by amount. Especially in the L2 group, the car and truck tires were dominated in weight of CB5 (Trabzon- Surmene) and CB3 (Trabzon) stations.Öğe Four Important Poisonous Fishes in the Black Sea Coasts: Some Biological Features and Length-Weight Relationships(Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, 2020) Özdemir, Süleyman; Buyukdeveci, Ferhat; Özsandıkçı, Uğur; Erdem, YakupIn this study were demonstrated length-weight relationships (LWRs) and some biological characteristic of four venomous fishes from Black Sea coasts. The most important venomous fish in the Black Sea coasts are common stingray (Dasyatis pastinaca), greater weever (Trachinus draco), scorpion fish (Scorpaena porcus) and stargazer (Uranoscopus scaber). The present study was carried out between 01 January 2015 and 30 September 2016 in Sinop peninsula coasts of the southern Black Sea. The fish samples were captured trammel nets (32 mm, 36 mm 40 mm and 48 mm mesh size) in 0-15-30-45 meters depth ranges. The average length of common stingray, greater weever, scorpion fish and stargazer were established 48.2±4.98 cm 17.88±0.25 cm, 11.49±0.07 cm, 13.25±0.47 cm and respectively. LWR of the venomous fishes were determined W=0.0028L3.2187 (n=12, R2=0.97), W=0.0287L2.5776 (n= 181, R2=0.93), W=0.0245L2.9050 (n=808, R2=0.98) and W=0.0181L2.9398 (n=779, R2=0.98) and respectively. Positive allometric growth for common stingray and negative allometric growth for greater weever, scorpion fish and stargazer were obtained (t-test, p < 0.05).Öğe GHOST FISHING EFFECTS OF LOST BOTTOM TRAMMEL NETS IN A STORM: A SIMULATION(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2017) Ozyurt, Caner Enver; Buyukdeveci, Ferhat; Kiyaga, Volkan BarisThe ghost fishing effects of bottom trammel nets, which drift on rocks in the bad weather conditions were investigated in regards of mortality of commercially important and endangered species in this study. Underwater experiments were performed in Yumurtalik, Iskenderun Bay between June 2013 and October 2013. Two panel experimental nets were used and data were gathered by underwater observation. During the study, 26 different species, belonging to 17 families, were caught in experimental nets. Teleost and crustaceans formed 98% of the captured individuals. The 24-hour catch rate of the experimental nets showed a rapid decline in the first few weeks and, by the 60th day, the decline was 80%. Afterwards, the decline slowly continued. No individual was caught in experimental nets after the 105th day. For this reason, the fishing life of the lost nets was assumed to be day 105. In the region, the mortality numbers of teleosts and crustaceans caused by bottom trammel nets lost by the entire fishing fleet were identified as 1291 (100 kg) and 6102 (990 kg) individuals, respectively. This mortality rate (0.55% for fish) can be considered to be insignificant in all fisheries, but the mortality rates of threatened species, such as Epinephelus marginatus and Chelonia mydas, were found to be noteworthy.Öğe Orta Karadeniz (Sinop) kiyilarinda avlanan iki dil baligi türünün (Solea solea Linnaeus, 1758 ve Pegusa lascaris Risso, 1810) boy-agirlik iliskilerinin belirlenmesi(Emrah SIMSEK, 2020) Buyukdeveci, Ferhat; Samsun, Osman; Özsandıkçı, UğurBu çalisma, Orta Karadeniz kiyi balikçiliginda yogun olarak kullanilan farkli ag göz açikligina sahip (32 mm, 36 mm ve 40 mm) fanyali uzatma aglari ile Eylül 2015-Agustos 2016 tarihleri arasinda gerçeklestirilmistir. Bu çalisma dil baligi türleri için Orta Karadeniz’deki ilk veri niteligi olustururken, yapilacak diger çalismalara kaynak olusturmasi hedeflenmistir.Öğe Seasonal Variations in the Length-weight Relationships of the Thornback Ray Raja clavata L., 1758 (Chondrichthyes: Rajidae) from the Turkish Black Sea Coast(Inst Zoology, Bas, 2021) Ozdemir, Suleyman; Ozsandikci, Ugur; Buyukdeveci, Ferhat; Erdem, YakupData on seasonal variations of the length-weight relationships of the threatened thornback ray Raja clavata L., 1758 from the Black Sea coastal areas of Turkey are presented. The study was carried out along the Sinop coasts between September 2015 and August 2016. Twelve trammel nets (32 mm, 36 mm and 40 mm mesh size) and 30 turbot gillnets (320 mm mesh size) were used. Totally, 430 thornback rays were analysed to calculate their length-weight relationship. The mean length of all thornback rays was 60.88 +/- 0.91 cm. The values of parameter b were 3.3450, 3.1496 and 3.2525 for females, males and all individuals, respectively. Positive allometric growths (t-test, p < 0.05) were recorded in all groups. The seasonal length-weight relationship of thornback rays was determined as W = 0.0029L(3.1675) (R = 0.9533, N = 323) for summer, W = 0.003L(3.1505) (R = 0.9955, N = 20) for autumn, W = 0.003L(3.1612) (R = 0.9967, N = 16) for winter and W = 0.0022L(3.2412) (R = 0.9866, N = 71) for spring.Öğe Technical plans of fishing gears used in the central black sea coastal fisheries (Sinop-Samsun)(Emrah SIMSEK, 2020) Erdem, Yakup; Özdemir, Süleyman; Özsandıkçı, Uğur; Buyukdeveci, FerhatThe study was carried out on the shores of Sinop-Samsun provinces, which is one of the most important fishing areas of the Black Sea between 01 January-31 December 2015. It was determined that 12 types of fishing gears are used in small-scale commercial coastal fisheries in total, including 10 set nets, 1 hand line and 1 seine net. These fishing gears were examined in the ports, boatyards and fishing boats located on the shores of the Black Sea and their technical plans were drawn and their characteristics were given in detail. The structural features and plans of fishing gear used in commercial fishing vary over time due to various reasons. Determining the current technical characteristics of fishing gear and providing their plans are important in terms of both assessment of fish stocks and monitoring the development of fishing gears and improvement studies.
