In the total alexithymia score, there was a significant difference in the group interaction by time in the intervention group compared to the control group. In terms of total alexithymia score, the post-test and follow-up test mean scores of the intervention group were lower than the control group (p < 0.05; eta 2 = 0.122). There was a significant time*group interaction in the positive emotion subscale of the EES (p < 0.05; eta 2 = 0.121). The findings of our study indicated that the EREP had a positive effect on the alexithymia scores of patients with schizophrenia. We found that the EREP used in our study contributed to the reduction of alexithymia levels in patients with schizophrenia.Öğe The Effect of Holistic Nursing Competence on Work Engagement, Self-Reflection and Insight in Nurses(Sage Publications Inc, 2022) Aydin, Adeviye; Kaya, Yunus; Erbas, AtiyeThis study aimed to examine the effects of holistic nursing competence on work engagement, self-reflection and insight in nurses. The study was conducted with 413 students studying in two different universities in Turkey. Data were collected using a Descriptive Information Form, Brief Symptom Inventory, Young Schema Questionnaire and Inventory of Parent Attachment. The obtained data were evaluated by constructing a structural equation model using the AMOS 23 V software. In the present study, it was found that insecure attachment to mothers and disconnection/rejection schema area exert a direct significant positive effect on depression and anxiety symptoms. The disconnection/rejection and impaired autonomy schema areas were observed to significantly and positively mediate insecure attachment to parents in explaining depression and anxiety symptoms. In line with these results, it was suggested that for individuals to establish trust-based relationships and maintain their mental health, replacing maladaptive schemas with realistic beliefs was important in terms of preventing mental illnesses from occurring, as the replacement of these schemas positively affected the mental well-being of university students.Öğe The Mediating Role of Irrational Beliefs in the Relationship between Anger and Sociotropic Personality Traits in Nursing Students(Springer, 2023) Kabasakal, Esma; Aydin, AdeviyeStudies have shown that irrational beliefs are important psychological structures that directly relate with anger and personality traits. However, the joint effect of irrational beliefs on the two variables is not clear. This study aimed to investigate the effect of anger and personality traits on irrational beliefs in nursing students. The research was carried out with 321 nursing students studying at two different universities in Turkiye. The nursing students completed the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale (TAAESS), Sociotropy/Autonomy Scale (SAS), and the Rational Emotional Self-Determination Scale (RESDS). Data were analyzed by structural equation modeling using the AMOS 20.0 software. As a result of the structural equation model, we found that the sociotropic personality trait affects irrational thought and irrational thought affects anger, but the sociotropic personality trait did not affect anger. The direct effect of the sociotropic personality trait on anger was 0.05, while its indirect effect was 0.26. The findings suggest that sociotropic personality traits such as seeking approval from others and valuing interpersonal relationships can lead to the formation of irrational beliefs. Preventing irrational beliefs in university nursing students is essential for ensuring anger control in young people and developing interpersonal relationships.Öğe The relationship between alexithymia, communication skills and mental well-being of nurses? in Turkey: A cross-sectional study(W B Saunders Co-Elsevier Inc, 2023) Dalokay, Elif Buse; Aydin, AdeviyePurpose: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between alexithymia, communication skills, and mental well-being of nurses.
