Öğe Contributions to Culicoides Latreille, 1809 (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) Fauna of Sinop Province(2018) Turgut, FethiIn recent years, Sinop Province has become an important touristic center of Black Sea Region in Turkey. Akliman isalso one of the most visited touristic areas of Sinop. It is notable that aquatic and semi-aquatic habitats in Aklimanand surrounding areas are suitable reproduction areas for Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae). Biting femaleCulicoides midges irritate people and animals because they feed by blood sucking. Thus, the study aimed to determinethe species of the genus in Akliman District of Sinop Province, which is little investigated. The present study wasconducted in 2014 and 2015. The study area was divided into three stations. Specimens were collected using CDCminiature light trap and black fluorescent lamp light trap at these stations, which were kept inside bottles with 70%ethyl alcohol. Culicoides specimens were identified using steromicroscope and light microscope. A total of 15 speciesof the Culicoides genus were identified in the study area. Culicoides alazanicus, C. cataneii, C. gejgelensis, C.griseidorsum, C. kibunensis, C. longipennis, C. obsoletus, C. picturatus and C. subfasciipennis species are newrecords for Sinop. Male individuals belonging to C. alazanicus and C. griseidorsum in Turkey have been identifiedfor the first time in this study.Öğe MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO Culicoides Latreille BITING MIDGES (DIPTERA, CERATOPOGONIDAE) WITH A NEW RECORD FOR TURKISH FAUNA(Trakya Univ Balkan Yerlesesi Enstituler Binasi, 2022) Turgut, FethiThis study was carried out in May-October 2013 and May-November 2017 in Sinop Province (Western Black Sea Region-Turkey). The Culicoides Latreille biting midges were collected with light traps and mounted on microscope slides in phenol-Canada balsam. The basic morphological features of Culicoides clastrieri Callot, Kremer & Deduit, 1962 and Culicoides tbilisicus Dzhafarov, 1964 in Sinop (Turkey) province were studied. Culicoides clastrieri is recorded for the first time from Turkey. Thus, the number of Culicoides species in Turkey reached to 72. In addition, the first taxonomic measurements and data of males and females of the poorly-known C. tbilisicus, whose distribution in Turkey was reported recently, were evaluated.Öğe Samsun Ili Culicoides Latreille, 1809 (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) Faunasina Katkilar(Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, 2018) Turgut, FethiBu çalisma 2016 yili Nisan-Kasim aylari arasindaSamsun’da gerçeklestirilmistir. Çalismanintemel hedefi, Türkiye’de sadece Samsun’da disisine ait kayit bulunan C. griseidorsum Kieffer, 1918 türüne aiterkek bireylerin elde edilmesidir. Bu amaçla, toplanan Culicoides örnekleri incelenmis ve C.cataneii Clastrier, 1957, C.circumscriptus Kieffer, 1918, C.duddingstoni Kettle ve Lawson, 1955, C.festivipennis Kieffer, 1914, C.gejgelensis Dzhafarov, 1964, C.kibunensis Tokunaga, 1937, C.longipennis Khalaf, 1957, C.maritimus Kieffer, 1924, C. obsoletus(Meigen, 1818), C. odiatus Austen,1921, C. pictipennis (Staeger, 1839), C. shaklawensis Khalaf, 1957, C. simulator Edwards, 1939, C. subfasciipennis Kieffer, 1919 türleritespit edilmistir. C. griseidorsumtürüne ait örnekler ise yakalanamamistir. Bu çalismayla C. odiatus, C. pictipennis, C. simulator türleri Samsun’dan ilk kezbildirilmektedir. Böylece Samsun Culicoidesfaunasina ait bilinen tür sayisi 25’e ulasmaktadir.Öğe The Ceratopogonidae (Insecta: Diptera) fauna of the Central Black Sea Region in Turkey(2015) Turgut, Fethi; Kiliç, Ali YavuzWithin the context of this study, conducted in 2007 and 2008, 64 species of the genera Allohelea Kieffer, Alluaudomy ia Kieffer, Atrichopogon Kieffer, Bezzia Kieffer, Brachypogon Kieffer, Culicoides Latreille, Dasyhelea Kieffer, Forcipomy ia Meigen, Leptoconops Skuse, Palpomy ia Meigen, and Stilobezzia Kieffer were reported in the Central Black Sea Region of Turkey.
