    Investigation of annual droughts of Boyabat region using different meteorological drought indices

    Drought, which is a natural disaster that increases its effects day by day, can cause significant damage. Several drought indices were carried out to determine drought. By means of these indices, drought can be determined and necessary precautions can be taken against drought. In this study, an annual drought survey was conducted using the rainfall records of the Boyabat meteorological observation station in the Kizilirmak River Basin in the 1976-2017. In the drought analysis, the meteorological drought indices Z-Score Index, China-Z Index and Modified China-Z Index were used. The dry and wet periods of the station were determined by means of meteorological drought indices, and the driest and wettest years were also determined. In the study, which also examined the compatibility between indices, it was determined that the coefficient of determination values of MCZI-ZSI and MCZI-CZI were higher than the ZSI-CZI. Drought events in Boyabat region should be investigated using different indices.

    The Impact of Project Shaping on the Occupational Health and Safety Practices in the Construction Sector: Application Example

    The construction industry is a major force in economic activity in Turkey and the world, day by day impact the local and global economy are increasing. The sector with economic power will direct the workforce and shape the lives of millions of people. The increase in the number of employees and the economic rise will bring heavy working conditions and will invite job accidents. In this study, the effects of the construction forms of construction on the precautions against work accidents, the work accidents happening in these work places and the view of the workers in this accidental sector are taken up. Surveys were conducted with 384 construction projects in Ankara, including employees (employer, technical staff, workers). The interactions of the parameters that are thought to cause occupational accidents have been evaluated. As a result of the study, it is found that the OSH measures for turn-key jobs are increased and the measures against job accidents are more effective than the other project types. According to the survey results, Occupational Health and Safety training was given as 49.2% in the construction-and-sales sector and 100% in the turn-key work. The results of the study are expected to provide positive contributions to the development of occupational health and safety education in the construction sector.
