Öğe An Effective Method of Aerobic Capacity Development: Combined Training with Maximal Aerobic Speed and Small-Sided Games for Amateur Football Players(Mdpi, 2024) Arslanoglu, Cansel; Celgin, Gurkan Selim; Arslanoglu, Erkal; Demirci, Nevzat; Karakas, Fatih; Dogan, Erol; Cakaloglu, ErdemThis study aimed to investigate the effects of combined training with maximal aerobic speed and small-sided games on football players' aerobic capacity development. Methods: The football players were divided into three groups as a combined training group (n = 20) (Mean +/- SD age 23.40 +/- 2.92 yrs, BMI was 23.67 +/- 1.59 kg/m(2), mass: 74.80 +/- 5.46 kg, height: 177.73 +/- 4.31 cm), maximal aerobic speed group (n = 20) (Mean +/- SD age 23.93 +/- 2.46 yrs, BMI was 23.32 +/- 1.42 kg/m(2), mass: 72.66 +/- 5.38 kg, height: 176.46 +/- 4.99 cm) and regular training group (n = 20) (Mean +/- SD age 24.80 +/- 5.84 yrs, BMI was 22.87 +/- 1.67 kg/m(2), mass: 73.06 +/- 6.74 kg, height: 178.33 +/- 7.98 cm). In addition to regular football training, maximal aerobic speed training with small-sided games was applied to the combined training group (CT) and only maximal aerobic speed training was applied to the maximal aerobic speed group (MAS) twice a week for 12 weeks. The normal training group (NT) continued their routine football training programme. All participants applied the Yo-Yo IR1 test in the pre-test and post-test of the study. As a result of normality tests, it was determined that the data showed normal distribution, and the ANOVA test and Tukey's multiple comparison test were used in the intergroup evaluation. Results: When the Yo-Yo IR1 Test pre-test and post-test results were analysed, maximal aerobic speed training with small-sided games (CT) and maximal aerobic speed (MAS) groups were significantly higher compared to the normal training (NT) group regarding training load, running distance, and VO2max value among the football players (p = 0.001). There was no difference in the normal training group (p > 0.05). As a result, it was determined that combined training with maximal aerobic speed, small-sided games, and only maximal aerobic speed effectively improved football players' aerobic capacity and general performance.Öğe Examination of Anthropometric Characteristics of Police Academy Students(Soc Chilena Anatomia, 2022) Kabadayi, Menderes; Mayda, Muhammet Hakan; Yilmaz, Ali Kerim; Karaduman, Emre; Erail, Serhat; Bostanci, Ozgur; Karakas, FatihAnthropometric data, which is highly correlated with health and high level of physical capacity, is very important for police officer. The aim of this study was to examine the anthropometric data of police college students and compare in terms of gender. Fifty-two police college students (32 females and 20 males) participated in the present study. Index calculations were made by applying anthropometric test measurements to all participants. The data included anthropometric (length measurements, width measurements, circumference measurement) and index [Body Mass Index (BMI), Cormic Index (C-Index), Body Adiposity Index (BAI), Ponderal Index (PI), Conicity Index (Con-Index) Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR)] parameters. The Independent Sample T-Test was used to analyze the difference in groups. A statistically significant difference was found in all parameters except leg length in length measurements (p<0.05). The mean of all width measurements except shoulder width of females was higher than that of male participants. Differences were obtained in all variables except hand and hip-width (p<0.05). In circumference measurements, there was a difference between the groups in the measurement values of the relaxed arm, maximum arm, wrist, shoulder, chest, and hip circumferences (p<0.05). The BAI, PI, WHtR, and Con-Index values were significantly different between groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, the length, width, circumference, and kinanthropometric indexes of male and female police candidates differ. Although male have higher mean values in length and circumference measurements, female have a higher mean for width measurements. Females have higher mean values in general in terms of index values and they are inincreased risk group in terms of WHtR index. It can be recommended for all participants, especially females, to participate in regular physical activity after they start working.Öğe Futbolcularda Glutamin ve Kreatin Suplementasyonunun Vücut Hidrasyon Düzeyi ve Bazi Performans Parametrelerine Kombine Etkisi(Akan BAYRAKDAR, 2024) Mor, Ahmet; Karakas, Fatih; Yilmaz, Ali Kerim; Mor, Hakki; Acar, Kürsat; Arslanoglu, ErkalBu çalismanin amaci futbolcularda glutamin&kreatin suplementasyonunun vücut kompozisyonu ve vücut hidrasyon düzeyi ile birlikte, bazi performans parametrelerine kombine etkisini arastirmaktir. Only one study in the literature was found that investigated the kicking speed performance of futsal players following low-dose caffeine supplementation (3 mg/kg); thus, the question of whether caffeine supplementation improves kicking speed as well as essential physical parameters in soccer players is still controversial. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of caffeine supplementation on vertical jump (VJ), sprint, reaction time, balance, change of direction (COD), and ball-kicking speed in soccer players. In a double-blind, cross-over design, nine moderately trained male soccer players (21.11 +/- 2.02 years, 171.22 +/- 6.14 cm, 71.78 +/- 10.02 kg) consumed caffeine (6 mg/kg) or a placebo 60 min before completing balance, reaction time, vertical jump, agility, 30 m sprint, and ball-kicking speed tests. Greater VJ height (p = 0.01) and power (p = 0.08), and faster completion time according to the Illinois Agility Test (p = 0.08) were found following caffeine supplementation compared to placebo. Elapsed time (p = 0.01), average (p = 0.01) time, and the slowest reaction times (p = 0.016) were significantly reduced after caffeine consumption compared to placebo supplementation. Caffeine intake significantly improved VJ, agility, and reaction time (p < 0.05) but did not affect 30 m sprint, ball-kicking speed, balance, and RPE values in soccer players (p > 0.05). Although non-significant, caffeine intake also improved sprint (0.67%) and ball kicking (2.7%) performance percentages. Also, caffeine consumption did not induce dehydration, and the athletes' body hydration levels were normal. These findings support the use of caffeine supplementation as an effective nutritional ergogenic aid to enhance anaerobic performance, at least for vertical jumps, COD speed, and reaction time, in trained male soccer players.Öğe The Effect of Participation in Recreational Activities on Students' Self-Confidence Levels bef ore and af ter TEOG Exam(Sociedad Revista de Psicologia del Deporte, 2024) Aksoy, Yener; Cankaya, Soner; Barut, Yasar; Caloglu, Mert; Selcuk, Mustafa Yasin; Karakas, Fatih; Ermis, AydanThe aim of this study is to investigate changes in the self-confidence levels of 8th grade students before and after the TEOG exam, a high school entrance exam administered by the Ministry of Education in Turkey. The exam, which evaluates students in core academie subjects, plays a crucial role in determining eligibility for Anatolian and Science High Schools, creating significant pressure on students due to its importance for their academie success and future career planning. The sample group of the research consists of 963 8th grade students. To collect data, the "Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale" was used. The study analyzed whether the self-confidence scores of 8th grade students before and after the TEOG exam differed according to gender, number of siblings, and participation in physical activity, using repeated measures ANOVA. The results revealed that students who participated in recreational activities had higher self-confidence levels both before and after the exam compared to those who did not. Additionally, male students had higher self-confidence levels than female students both before and after the exam. The findings suggest that students' withdrawal from recreational and physical activities during exam periods negatively impacts their self-confidence. Therefore, it is important to encourage students to engage in physical and recreational activities to reduce their digital addiction during their free time and to help maintain their self-confidence at optimal levels. © 2024 Sociedad Revista de Psicologia del Deporte.
