Öğe Job satisfaction mediation in the relationship between work-family conflict and life satisfaction among Turkish academics(Tech Science Press, 2025) Ozturk, Meral; Turk, Ahmet; Tire, Olcay; Gonultas, Burak M.This study examined the mediating role of job satisfaction in explaining the relationship between work-family conflict and life satisfaction among Turkish academicians. Employing a cross-sectional study design 645 academicians aged between 24 and 65 (male = 45.1%, female = 54.9%; professors = 12.1%, associate professors = 17.7%, assistant professors = 28.2%, lecturers = 17.8%, research assistants = 24.2%; mean age and SD = 39.72 +/- 8.94) completed the Job Satisfaction Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Work-Family Conflict Scale. They also self-reported their demographics. The findings from PROCESS MACRO analysis indicated work-family conflict to predict lower job satisfaction among academicians. Those with higher job satisfaction were also self-reported with higher life satisfaction. Lob satisfaction mediated the relationship between the academician's work family conflict and life satisfaction for higher life satisfaction. The findings of this study indicate a need to implement work-family and life satisfaction measures to enhance job satisfaction among academics.Öğe The moderating role of victim-related education in social work: examining the relationship between unjust/just-world beliefs and prejudice towards crime victims(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Gonultas, Burak M.; Turk, Sena; Ozturk, Meral; Turk, Ahmet; Ari, FurkanThis study aims to examine the relationship between social work students' unjust/just world beliefs and their prejudiced attitudes toward victims, as well as the moderating effect of victim-related education on this relationship. The study's sample comprised 412 social work students. Just World Belief Scale and the Perceptions of Victims Scale was used. The regression analysis, underpinned by the bootstrap technique via the Process Macro plug-in, was utilized to ascertain the moderating effect of victim-related training programmes. Results indicated that unjust world beliefs did not interact significantly with victim-related education in predicting prejudice. In contrast, victim-focused education significantly moderated the association between just world beliefs and prejudicial attitudes. Among students without such training, stronger endorsement of just world beliefs was associated with a marked increase in prejudice toward victims. However, this effect was substantially weakened among students who had received victim-related instruction. This study has produced two significant insights: First, pervasive societal judgments internalized by students can shape their attitudes toward victimized groups. Second, targeted educational interventions can attenuate the biasing influence of just world beliefs. Incorporating victimization-focused content into social work curricula is thus essential for mitigating prejudicial tendencies and fostering more equitable, empathetic professional practice.Öğe The Role of Locus of Control, Empathy, and Stereotypes on Prejudice Toward Crime Victims: A Turkish Sample(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Gonultas, Burak M.; Ozturk, Meral; Bascillar, Mehmet; Turk, AhmetThis study investigates the effects of locus control, empathy, and stereotypes on prejudice toward crime victims. A correlational survey model was employed to examine potential relationships between variables. The sample consisted of 937 Turkish participants. To collect data, the Perceptions and Awareness Toward Victims Scale (PAVS), Locus of Control Scale, and Toronto Empathy Questionnaire were used. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to explore the impact of independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings revealed that empathy had the greatest influence on prejudice toward victims, followed by stereotypes toward victims, internal control, and external control.
