Öğe DEVELOPING THE POWER EQUITY SCALE FOR COUPLE/FAMILY THERAPY PRACTICES FROM A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE AND DETERMINING ITS PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES(Irfan TÜRKOGLU, 2024) Serpen, Ayse Sezen; Kara, Yunus; Özdemir, Hasan Fehmi; Duyan, VeliThis study carried out to develop the Power Equity Scale and establish its validity and reliability. The Scale was applied to the first study group comprised the 404 couple/family therapists. After the scale was applied, an exploratory factor analysis has been conducted and the final single factor scale with 19 items has been found. The structure occuring as a result of the exploratory factor analysis has been confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient acquired from the scale is 0.983. As a result of the test-retest method applied to determine the consistency between the measurements of the scale, the correlation value found between the scores obtained from the two applications is 0.98. Depending on these findings, the Power Equity Scale has been determined to be a valid and reliable tool that can be used to collect data in the studies to be conducted in the field.Öğe I'm About to Explode, I'm About to Strangle: Emotional Experiences of Turkish Veterans and Their Spouses Diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2023) Er, Filiz; Duyan, VeliIntroductionThe aim of this study is to examine in depth the experiences of Turkish veterans diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and their spouses in the dimension of affective development in the light of their trauma experiences with a qualitative design and phenomenological approach.MethodsThe study group of the research consisted of 21 veterans diagnosed with PTSD and accepted as veterans, and the spouses of the 21 veterans. This qualitative study explores the experiences of veterans diagnosed with PTSD and their spouses, focusing on the challenges in their cognitive functions, using a phenomenological approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with 42 participants, including 21 veterans and 21 spouses of veterans diagnosed with PTSD. The study analyzes their experiences of how PTSD affects their cognitive functions. The transcribed interview data were analyzed using the MAXQDA 2020 program and a thematic analysis approach. Two main themes emerged: positive thoughts before trauma and negative thoughts after trauma. Within negative post-traumatic thoughts, three themes were identified: Thought content; Thought function; Acceptance and adaptation over time, with a total of 11 sub-themes. These results indicate that PTSD has adverse effects on the cognitive functions of both veterans and their spouses. Notably, these findings align with criterion D of PTSD in DSM-V. Therefore, future studies should not only focus on the cognitive functions of veterans with PTSD but also consider the perspectives and experiences of their spouses. Comprehensive psycho-social services are essential for both veterans and their spouses. © 2024 Division 19 (Society for Military Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.
