    A Study on the Use of the Rose in Cemal Süreya's Poems

    The flower, recognized as a very important concept worldwide from the earliest ages, is considered a symbol that expresses emotions and thoughts within the shared understanding of humanity. The flower is also found in literature and, therefore, in poetry as a literary genre, showing its effect in many aspects of life. The shaping of the Turkish poetry map has become much more intense, especially during the Republican Period. The existence of movements that set out with different understandings proves this. The Second New movement which took shape in the mid-1950s is one of them. Cemal S & uuml;reya was a prominent poet in the Second New movement in Turkish poetry. Like many other poets, S & uuml;reya expresses sentiments about life, women, ideas and political identity by blending flowers with humor and his intellectual and versatile personality. The rose is one of the flowers the poet uses in this context. This article presents a different perspective on the poet's work by examining the specific poems and verses in which the rose is utilized, detailing the frequency and the manner of its application, and analyzing these.

    Flaneuserie in Turkan Yesilyurt's 'Fahri': the circulation of the female body in the city

    This study examines Turkan Yesilyurt's poetry collection Fahri through feminist literary theory, focusing on the concept of the flaneuse. Traditionally defined as a male observer of the city, the flaneur has been reconceptualized by feminist scholars to include the flaneuse, representing women's embodied experiences in urban space. In Fahri, the female subject is interpreted as a poetic flaneuse who reclaims visibility through bodily and mnemonic presence in the city. Using qualitative textual analysis, the study explores how space, memory, and the female body interact in the poems. The analysis draws on Judith Butler's theory of gender performativity, Walter Benjamin's writings on the flaneur, and Gaston Bachelard's poetics of space. Rather than portraying the city as neutral backdrop, Yesilyurt renders it a layered memory site marked by trauma, longing, and gendered social dynamics. The flaneuse emerges not only as an observer, but as an agent who transforms space through poetic language and challenges patriarchal boundaries. Through affective and spatial circulation, the poems construct a feminist poetics of resistance. In doing so, the article contributes to feminist urban poetics in contemporary Turkish literature by foregrounding the co-production of gendered mobility, spatial memory, and digital mediation.

    Nermin Yildirim's Sakli Bahçeler Haritasi (The Hidden Gardens Map) in the Context of Multiple Personality Disorder

    Novels, which take shape in imaginary worlds, are closely connected to life and reality. Psychiatric disorders also belong to life and reality and are part of the content of literary works. Authors sometimes make use of mental disorders to tell a story or to give depth to fiction. Such disorders, which started to be seen in Turkish literature in the novels of the Tanzimat period, play particularly dramatic roles in texts produced after the 1960-1970s. Psychological disorders include dissociative disorders, one type of which is multiple personality disorder. The person experiencing this type of dissociation develops two or more independent personality systems in response to feelings of anxiety. One of the most important works of recent Turkish literature, Nermin Y & imath;ld & imath;r & imath;m's Sakl & imath; Bah & ccedil;eler Haritas & imath; (The Hidden Gardens Map), first published in 2013, is a novel in which multiple personality disorder plays a significant role. This study attempts to determine how the defining criteria and symptoms of multiple personality disorder are exhibited in the aforementioned novel and how its effects and related issues are conveyed to the reader.
