Öğe Edith Wyschogrod, Saints and Postmodernism(Samsun Üniversitesi, 2024) Özdemir, SengülThe work under examination, Saints and Postmodernism: Revisioning Moral Philosophy (Religion and Postmodernism) by Edith Wyschogrod—one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century—addresses a critical issue confronting contemporary individuals: how to conceptualize morality in a postmodern era characterized by the profound destabilization of traditional normative structures. This book, regarded as one of the author’s seminal works, explores innovative pathways bridging philosophy, religion, and postmodernism. Wyschogrod approaches ethics through the narratives of saints, offering a compelling response to the postmodern critique that ethical norms are unattainable. She proposes that the lives of saints, as documented in hagiographic texts, serve as foundational sources for reimagining ethics within a perceived moral void. In her altruistic interpretation of hagiographies, the Other is not seen as an extension of the self but as a demand that confronts and challenges the self. This perspective reexamines one of the most pressing dilemmas of modern thought—the concept of alterity within consciousness—through the lens of hagiographic narratives. The book’s strengths lie in its multidisciplinary approach, seamlessly integrating religious, literary, cultural, and philosophical perspectives. Each chapter offers comparative analyses with thinkers from diverse fields and is supported by an extensive reference list, making it particularly valuable for academic studies and readers with prior expertise in the subject. However, the book may prove challenging for general readers due to its complex language and theoretical depth. Additionally, Wyschogrod’s phenomenological and hermeneutic methodologies have been critiqued for potential overgeneralizations that fail to account for cultural and religious diversity in her portrayal of saints. Her claims, which often transcend linguistic and historical contexts, could also be seen as contradictory. Despite these criticisms, Saints and Postmodernism remains a significant contribution to philosophical and religious studies. By anchoring its discourse in the altruistic ethics exemplified by saintly existence, the work continues to provide a meaningful framework for navigating moral philosophy in the postmodern landscape.Öğe Tarihle Etkilesimi Baglaminda Ahlaki Bilincin Evrenselligi ve Tarihselligi Problemi(Milel ve Nihal: Egitim, Kültür ve Düsünce Platformu Dernegi, 2019) Özdemir, SengülKüresel köy olarak nitelenen günümüzde farkli tecrübe tarzlarinin veya söylemlerin çok sik sekilde yüzlesildigi bir dünya insanlari kusatmaktadir.
