Önce “yemîn” kavraminin türedigi y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?) kökü ve türevlerinin etimolojik tahlili yapilarak anlamlari belirlenmeye çalisilmistir. Y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?) kökünün esas/temel manasinin tespiti için Câhiliye siirlerinden yararlanilmaya gayret edilmistir. Bu baglamda y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?) kökünden bir isim olan “yemîn” kavraminin esas manasi belirlenmistir. Belirlenen esas/kök anlamdan sonra bu kavramin izafî ve mecazî anlamlari ortaya çikarilmaya çalisilmistir. Akabinde “yemîn” kavraminin Kur’ân’daki kullanim biçimleri ve yer aldigi siyaka göre kazandigi muhtelif anlamlari tespit edilmistir. Ardindan “yemîn” kavraminin semantik açidan anlam örgüsünü tespit edebilmek gayesiyle bu kavramla yakin anlamlilik iliskisine sahip olan kavramlara da yer verilerek karsilastirmalar yapilmistir. Son olarak “yemîn” kavramiyla ayni semantik alanda yer alan ve yakin anlamlilik iliskisine sahip olan kavramlarin Kur’ân’daki kullanimlarina ve bulunduklari siyak içerisinde kazandiklari farkli anlamlarina yer verilerek “yemîn” kavramiyla benzerlikleri ve farkliliklari tespit edilmeye çalisilmistir.In the present article, the concept of “yemîn/oath” (???????) is analyzed in terms of diachronic semantics. First, the etymological analysis of the root y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?) and its derivatives from which the concept of “yemîn” derives was conducted to determine their meanings. In order to determine the main/basic meaning of the root y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?), it was aimed to refer to the poems of the Jahiliyyah. In this context, the main meaning of the concept of “yemîn”, a noun derived from the root y-m-n (? ? ? ? ?), was determined. After the main/root meaning was identified, all relative and figurative meanings of this concept were tried to be revealed. Afterwards, the usage of the concept of “yemîn” in the Qur’an and its various meanings according to the Qur’anic context were determined. In the next stage, in order to determine the semantic meaning of the concept of “yemîn”, comparisons were made by including the concepts that have a close semantic relationship with the concept in question.
